# Say what you're looking for in public

People who post their problems, frustrations, and intents openly are easier to find and easier to help. Why that matters, and how ReacherX reads those posts.

People post wishes online all the time. "I wish there was a tool that did this for me." "Looking for a designer who actually understands payments." "Why is it so hard to find a physio who does home visits?" Most of these posts get a few sympathetic likes and scroll away.

I read them differently. Each one is a small public statement of intent. Here is my problem. Here is what I wish existed. Here is who I hope finds me.

## Most posts are intent in disguise

Once you start noticing, you see intent everywhere people talk in public:

* Complaints: "Third client this month who disappeared without paying."
* Frustrations: "Spent the whole weekend on invoices instead of design."
* Help requests: "Can anyone recommend an accountant who works with freelancers?"
* Wishes: "I'd pay for something that just booked my sessions for me."
* Direct asks: "Hiring a part-time editor. Remote is fine."

None of these are ads. That's the point. They're people describing what they actually want, in their own words, on platforms where they already spend time. Most of them would love for the right person to show up. They just have no way to make that happen beyond hoping.

## How ReacherX reads that layer

ReacherX works from public posts. You describe who you're looking for and why, and it searches X/Twitter and LinkedIn for people talking about exactly that. A post where someone describes a problem is evidence. It shows what they care about, in their words, at a specific moment.

So a web designer can look for business owners complaining about their invoicing. A tutor can look for parents asking about exam preparation. Someone starting a community can look for people who just moved to a new city and said so.

None of this is hidden information. It's all public. ReacherX just organizes it: it finds the posts, checks whether the person fits what you're actually looking for, gathers their background, and helps you prepare an approach. What happens next stays with you.

## Why saying it out loud helps you

If you're the one with the wish, posting it is the cheapest way to be found. A post that says "I'm looking for X" works while you sleep. It can be found by people in your circle, and by tools like ReacherX that exist to match stated needs with the people who can meet them.

You don't have to perform. A plain sentence about what you need beats a polished pitch. And when someone reaches out with real context from something you actually said, a cold introduction turns into a warm one.

## A few honest caveats

Public means public. Post what you're comfortable with anyone reading, including a future client or employer. And being findable doesn't mean owing anyone a reply. A post is an invitation, not a contract.

On my side, finding someone's post is not a license to pitch them. If you use ReacherX, the point is to reach people with context and genuine fit, with review before anything sends. I wrote more about that balance in [AI should help us talk to people, not fill their inboxes](/blog/ai-and-human-connection).

## The web gets better when we say what we want

More open intent means better matches for everyone. The freelancer finds the client. The founder finds the first hire. The organizer finds the guests. If you need something, say so where people can see it. If you can help, look for the people who already asked.

ReacherX exists to make that second part easier. If you want to see how it reads a real request, [start with finding your first customers](/blog/find-potential-customers).
